WEBS Training

WEBS Training is a leading not-for-profit independent training provider specialised in the furniture and interiors industries. With over 50 years of experience, WEBS delivers high-quality, hands-on training, helping to develop the next generation of skilled craftspeople.

A long-standing apprenticeship provider, WEBS was first formed in 1968 by four upholstery companies from Long Eaton and surrounding areas – the UK centre of quality upholstery manufacture. Created to secure the next generation of furniture makers for these companies and others in the area, over time WEBS increased its course offering, and now works with furniture and interiors companies across the country.

The apprenticeship course offering, although expanded, has stayed dedicated to the furniture and interiors, offering nationally recognised Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeships in: upholstery and sewing, wood machining, furniture and frame making, fitted interiors installation, and more recently, floorlaying. Although their primary training is apprenticeship delivery, WEBS also offers private training in-centre or in-company, along with machinery refresher training.

Now based in Beeston, Nottingham, WEBS Training has a facility with fully equipped workshops for upholstery, sewing, and wood machining, along with fitted furniture installation booths offering a range of difficulty levels. For floorlaying, WEBS works with the Contract Flooring Association’s training arm, FITA (Flooring Industry Training Association) and their specialist training space in Loughborough.

WEBS works closely with employers to provide bespoke training tailored to real workplace needs. Every programme is led by expert tutors who are experienced tradespeople themselves, ensuring practical, industry-relevant learning.

What sets WEBS apart is their commitment to both learners and businesses. They provide full support to employers including recruitment services, guidance on funding and legal requirements, and help with apprenticeship planning. This makes them an ideal training partner for small businesses and independent craftsmen who may not have internal HR or training resources.

In addition to core training, WEBS enhances learning through enrichment activities, such as trade events, industry competitions, and supplier visits, to inspire career development and industry engagement. This has included an apprentice team taking part in the Red Bull Soap Box Race, and multiple WEBS’ apprentices being shortlisted for a variety of awards.

WEBS Training maintains achievement rates well above the national average and is driven by a not-for-profit ethos. Their mission is to preserve and promote British craftsmanship through meaningful, practical education, whilst responding to industry and employer needs. Becoming a member of the BFA was a natural step in order to best fulfil this mission.

Whether you're a business seeking support with apprenticeships or an individual wanting to start a career in the furniture industry, WEBS Training is the trusted choice for quality, support, and skill-building excellence.
