Raising the profile of British furniture through marketing support

3 August 2026

“To receive this recognition—especially as it is voted for by the industry itself—is highly valued, and we’re incredibly grateful to every person who has acknowledged our work with their vote,” enthuses Phil Spademan, Managing Director of the British Furniture Association (BFA).

Behind every successful furniture business is a strong story – and many of those stories are being shaped with support from the British Furniture Association (BFA); helping members communicate more confidently, promote their brands and showcase the craftsmanship and innovation behind British-made furniture.

BFA MD Phil Spademan says the Association’s marketing activity is central to its role as a collective voice for the industry. “As a trade body we act as a collective voice for the British furniture industry with a view to raising the profile of the sector as a whole,” he explains. “We also endeavour to provide useful and meaningful information and advice to businesses across our membership, helping them to promote their own brands and represent the deep craftsmanship and skill that has a long-standing association with British-made furniture.”

Members can tap into a wide range of marketing-focused resources – from high-quality tools and insights to promotional opportunities that help businesses grow and thrive. Alongside this, the BFA delivers practical support for retailers, suppliers and manufacturers through campaigns, content, events and partnerships that are designed to reach customers and stakeholders more effectively.

One of the Association’s major initiatives is its Future of Furniture campaign, which sharpens the focus on education and sustainability. Designed to attract talent into the sector, the campaign highlights the opportunities to learn and develop across multiple career pathways, while also shining a spotlight on the strides BFA members are taking to become more sustainable.

At the heart of the campaign sits the Future of Furniture Awards. These recognise businesses that demonstrate excellence in Education, Sustainability and ESG Reporting, and also celebrate an individual ‘Sustainability Champion’. The awards are presented at BFA’s Furniture Component Expo (FCE), which brings the furniture manufacturing supply chain together under one roof to explore the latest components, products and services.

FCE itself has become a key platform for showcasing innovation and ideas. As well as a packed programme of panel discussions, the 2026 edition debuted the Innovation Trail, highlighting cutting-edge developments from across the industry and offering exhibitors and visitors new ways to connect.

For many businesses, marketing support is one of the most tangible benefits of BFA membership, sitting alongside technical advice, free legal support, discounted services and guidance on Environment and Social Governance. Together, these resources are aimed at helping members build stronger, more resilient and more visible businesses.

“Our aim as an organisation is to ensure our members and their businesses experience real benefit from their BFA membership,” Phil adds. “A vital element of that is providing opportunities for businesses to celebrate what they do and to promote the value of the sector as a whole. This acknowledgement of the BFA’s work in providing marketing support over the last year is highly valued and we’re grateful to every person who has recognised that with their vote.”
