Furniture, Family and Heritage: Loom Loft’s Winning Formula

12 May 2026

Recently, Joanna Privett, Membership Manager at the British Furniture Association, travelled to Lancashire to meet with Tracy Leeming of Loom Loft, an independent retailer and proud BFA Retail Member.

Founded during lockdown by husband‑and‑wife team Boyd and Rachel Hargreaves, Loom Loft has grown into a much‑loved family‑run furniture and interiors business. Their sons, Ewan and Brad, have since joined the venture, continuing a family story deeply woven into Lancashire’s heritage.

The Hargreaves family history spans more than 300 years, tracing its roots to James Hargreaves, the inventor of the Spinning Jenny—an innovation that helped shape Britain’s textile industry and spark Lancashire’s weaving legacy. That same pioneering spirit is clearly reflected in Loom Loft’s approach today.

The flagship Clitheroe store is a destination in itself. Beautifully designed and welcoming, it features an elegant Loft Bistro, where visitors can enjoy breakfast, brunch, or locally inspired signature dishes prepared by in‑house chefs. It’s a space that blends conversation, creativity, and community—all under one roof.

What truly stands out is Loom Loft’s attention to detail and commitment to British craftsmanship. Products made in the UK are clearly labelled, often highlighting their local Lancashire origins—an initiative that not only promotes transparency but also champions the British furniture sector and helps customers make informed, conscientious choices.

As Tracy explained, supporting regional makers and skilled craftspeople isn’t just good practice; it’s a promise. Around 80% of Loom Loft’s upholstery collections are sourced from local makers and British manufacturers—proof of their ongoing investment in the talent and tradition that define British furniture.

Since opening its first flagship store in Clitheroe in 2019, the business has expanded steadily across the North West, with new showrooms now operating in Batley, Bolton, Preston, and most recently Lytham.

Loom Loft’s success comes down to its people. The team’s genuine passion for great service and honest advice shines through in every interaction. Their ethos of “customer first” ensures each visitor feels part of the Loom Loft family—from first visit to final delivery—backed by a no‑quibble policy that builds lasting trust.

In an economic climate where many retailers face challenges, Loom Loft’s combination of heritage, hospitality, and heart is truly inspirational. As Joanna observed, this is a retailer that’s getting it right—uniting design and service with a strong sense of local pride.

Long may their success continue.
